2000 Toyota Corolla Relay Diagram

My son has a 2000 Corolla VE. The other night he came home and let me know that his headlights won't work at night. They normally are on day or night and I believe is controlled by the DRL module. If the car is off you can not turn on the lights manually using the switch now. The high beams will not work either but the High beam indicator does work on the dash. Parking lights, tail lights and brake lights all work properly. I've have checked fuses, none are blown. I went online and found a schematic of the wiring diagram. All grounds appear to be good. I checked all the relays and fuses in engine compartment and don't see any issues.

If I start the car during the daylight with headlight switch in off or tail light position, the headlights turn on. But once I cover the auto light control sensor (to fool it to think it is night) the lights will turn off after 15 sec. Once I unblock the sensor the light come on after 15 sec.
If I turn the headlight switch with car running to tail light position, Headlight is ON along w/ taillight and front parking lights.
If I turn the headlight switch with car running to Headlight position, Headlights turn off but taillight and front parking lights stay on.

Once I turn off the car the headlights turn off.

Since the High beams were also not working, but the indicator was, I started the car with light switch off, went to engine compartment and found Dimmer relay. Removed cover and manually actuated the relay and High Beams worked.

I also observed with the car off and no key in the ignition, that when I turn on either the tail light of headlight switch, that the warning tone comes on. So I am surmising that switch is working. And also the taillights responses to the switch.

This has lead me to the DRL Module located under the glove compartment and the DRL Diode (which I have not located). I verified ground connections with meter and all appears to be good. At this point I thought the easiest troubleshooting of the DRL module was to replace it. My son went to Pick a Part and found a module and we swapped it out but ended up with same result. I am thinking the odds of having a second bad module is fairly remote.

I have not found were to diode is to check it.

I have identified the pinout numbers of the module but the schematic I have for the headlights and color code has me a bit confused. See attached of schematic.
When I read the schematic for the module, there is a ID (DRL) and R-Y (Red-Yellow) going to pin #25, #1 (which it does) but when I look at ID (E2) it shows W-B (White-Black) going to Pin #1 and #12. I do not see a W-R going to Pin #1. I also see on the schematic that Pin #12 is reference at ID (E).

At this point it was too dark to continue and it is starting too rain, so I stopped my troubleshooting. I am hoping that someone out there is more knowledgeable than I on this problem could help me figure this out.

All help is appreciated

Kind regards,

Mike
